Calendar 2011

Picnic at Concrete Plant Park hosted by Youth Ministries for Peace and Justice!

Date: Saturday, May 7th 2011

Time: 1pm - 4pm

Location: Concrete Plant Park (Westchester Ave and Whitlock Ave)

You might be asking yourself what canoing on the Bronx River has to do with the Sheridan Expressway Removal Campaign. A LOT!

While you canoe the river and enjoy Concrete Plant Park, think about how removing the Sheridan will improve access to the beautiful Bronx River and allow for more residents to enjoy parks such as Concrete Plant Park and Starlight Park that local residents have fought hard to create.

Community Dinners in the Summer of 2011!

The community based member organizations of the Southern Bronx River Watershed Alliance will be hosting neighborhood dinners to bring together the residents of the neighborhoods around the Sheridan Expressway. The City of New York has recently become involved with our work by recieving a 1.5 million dollar federal transportation grant to study and plan the removal of the Sheridan. This dinners will help build our strength to make sure that the Sheridan Expressway is removed and replaced with benefits to the people of our communities: affordable housing, park space, recreational opportunities, re-connected streets and communities, space for shopping and businesses, and many other benefits to residents of the Bronx!

Please check back to the website soon to find out the exact DATE, TIME, and LOCATION of our events. Always feel free to contact us too!
